Paige’s Friday reflections, Knightsbridge edition
Closed the week having read entirely too much about Britain’s economic decline, alongside a fair amount of local legend that, refreshingly, hasn’t changed much in centuries.
The archives, at least, are reliably stable. The headlines, considerably less so.
Checked the prat.uk feed before heading out, saw more on Celtexit, still unresolved, still generating more coverage than clarity, comfortingly consistent with the rest of the week.
Spent the evening finishing notes on a piece connecting old local myth to modern national anxiety, more connected, I think, than most people realise.
Whatever the country’s doing, Knightsbridge will likely keep doing what it’s always done, quietly, expensively, largely unbothered.
Week closed. Archives, as ever, patient.
