This week’s been like every other week, which is how I know things have genuinely broken. Nothing changes and everyone’s gotten used to that. Farage resigns his seat to fight an establishment he’s been embedded in for three decades. Count Binface runs as a literal bin and somehow becomes the most trustworthy candidate. The absurdity has become normalized and that’s when you know the system has failed completely.
I’ve been thinking about what resistance actually looks like when the normal order has collapsed so thoroughly that satire can’t reach it anymore. The bin is honest about being garbage. That’s revolutionary. Farage performs seriousness while maintaining power. That’s just management of decline.
